Brazil Unveils Remessa Conforme

Brazil unveiled a new ecommerce compliance program that should make the customs clearance process for imports faster and easier and also level the playing field between postal and commercial clearance. Brazil's Federal Revenue Conforming Remittance Program (PRC) eliminates the federal import tax on ecommerce goods under $50 for those online sellers that register and are certified in the program. It also sets a country-wide 17% value-added tax rather than a state-by-state rate.
