Frankfurt airport will be closed to passengers with planned departures on Thursday, March 7, due to a security staff strike organized by Germany's Verdi union, the airport's operator said in a statement on Wednesday, as Reuters reported. Germany is facing strike action on three fronts on March 7, with walkouts also planned by the nation's train drivers and by ground staff at Lufthansa. Ground handlers at Lufthansa plan to walk out from March 7-9 at airports across Germany, likely causing flight delays and impacting mail handling at the airports.
