IMAG's latest Insights newsletter takes a closer look at the report from the White House's Task Force on the U.S. Postal Service. The report calls for a new business model for USPS, a stronger governance structure, and changes to package pricing and the price cap on market-dominant products, among other recommendations. Unfortunately, cross-border ecommerce and other international mailing/shipping issues did not get much attention in the report. However, the USPS is the core of a $1.4 trillion mailing and shipping industry in the United States. Fixing the Postal Service's business model for long-term viability is essential to the health of this industry and the overall economy. See the full report from task force here.
