Jersey Post Notes New GST Threshold

Jersey Post informed designated operators via a Universal Postal Union (UPU) circular that Jersey is lowering its goods and services tax (GST) threshold for goods imported into Jersey effective July 1, 2023. Retailers outside Jersey that sell goods to consumers in Jersey for a total value that exceeds 300,000 GBP per annum will have to register and account for Jersey GST on all these sales. Unless GST has been accounted for at the point of sale, all goods imported unaccompanied by private individuals into Jersey from 1 July 2023 will be subject to GST where the value of the imported goods exceeds 60 GBP, threshold is being reduced from 135 GBP, and will eventually be removed altogether, the circular says.
