USPS Issues Letter on Essential Services

The U.S. Postal Service has issued an industry essential letter reiterating the guidance from the Department of Homeland Security that mail, print, and logistics are essential services that should continue to operate during the COVID-19 crisis.
The letter states, "The Postal Service is an entity of the Federal Government, and theprovision of postal services to the American people is designated as an essential function underfederal law during times of emergency." It goes on to note: "Postal and shipping workers, including those in the private sector, are also considered essential critical infrastructure workers under recent guidance issued by the Department of Homeland Security.White House and CDC guidance has also stated that such industries have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules."
Workers in these businesses are encouraged to keep this letter on hand or in their vehicles, as well as reference to the DHS Guidance.
