Changes to Australia’s GST Take Effect on July 1
Australia plans to introduce changes to its goods and services tax (GST) effective July 1, 2018, and the impact on low-value goods will have implications for merchants who sell goods, electronic distribution platform operators, and re-deliverers. On March 6, the U.S. Postal Service hosted a webinar featuring representatives of the Australian Taxation Office. The speakers defined terms and surveyed anticipated changes, with additional notes on preventing double taxation; registration, returns, and payments; compliance; and additional sources of information.
