Senators Introduce STOP Act 2.0

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) introduced S. 986, the STOP Act 2.0, which builds on the current STOP Act of 2018 and its requirement that shipments coming into the United States from foreign postal operators provide 100% advance electronic data (AED). The new bill would increase the criminal penalty for mail fraud involving misrepresentation of the country of origin; and would terminate the authority to exclude countries from the requirement to transmit advance electronic information for 100 percent of mail shipments under the STOP Act of 2018, and for other purposes. The full text was not yet posted on Congress.gov, See Senator Moore Capito's press release.
