IMAG Urges PRC to Rule Promptly

The International Mailers Advisory Group (IMAG) submitted comments to the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) in the competitive products rate and classification case, urging the regulator to issue a timely ruling.

The Postal Service submitted a filing on November 14 to raise rates on its competitive products and to make classification changes on two international products. USPS set an effective date of January 18, 2026, for the new rates to take effect. IMAG’s comments remind the PRC that last year’s delayed decision hurt international shippers and their service providers because they had only three days to make the necessary changes.

Last year, the Postal Service filed its competitive products rate case on November 15, 2024, with an effective date of January 19, 2025. However, the PRC did not issue its order until January 16, 2025. This resulted in added costs and stress for most service providers and solutions providers as they had to use overtime to make the necessary systems changes in time for the effective date. IMAG’s letter lays out the hurdles that contract holders face if the PRC does not issue its decision within 30 days of the filing, as its own rules require.
