Supply Chain Leaders Commit to 24/7 Operations

The White House announced it has convened meetings with leaders of business, unions, and the major ports to address challenges at ports and other delays across the transportation supply chain. President Biden will make remarks after this afternoon's meetings, set for 2:20 PM Thursday, according to Reuters.

"These leaders are announcing a series of public and private commitments to move more goods faster, and strengthen the resiliency of our supply chains, by moving towards 24/7 operations at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach," the announcement says.

The White House said it has also secured commitments from three of the largest goods carriers — Walmart, FedEx and UPS — to take steps to move toward 24/7 operations. See story on NPR this morning and articles in Washington Post and CNBC and The Hill.
