IMAG Comments on Counterfeit Postage Proposal

In recently filed commentsto the Postal Service, IMAG said it supports as a positive first step the Postal Service's proposed rule to treat counterfeit postage as abandoned mail that can be disposed of at USPS's discretion.

"IMAG supports the proposal and considers it a positive step in efforts to fight fraud, especially in the package delivery market. However, we urge the Postal Service and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) to do even more to combat fraud that is growing increasingly egregious in the package market: notably counterfeit/fake labels in both the international and domestic mail stream that prevent legitimate partners of the Postal Service from competing on a level playing field," IMAG said.
