Export Compliance Implemented

The Postal Service turned on export compliance on Aug. 2 and began returning receptacles to mailers that lacked required customs data in the Shipping Services File (SSF). Export Compliance ensures that mailers are providing all necessary advance electronic data (AED) for mailing international packets and packages. Just as USPS has stepped up enforcement of AED requirements from foreign posts as dictated by the STOP Act, foreign posts are demanding 100 percent compliance from USPS on outbound shipments. Mailers that have their receptacles returned for missing or incomplete data should follow the instructions in this letter for reentering the receptacle once data issues are fixed.
