eBay Main Street Effort Touts Importance of Small Ecomm Businesses

eBay Main Street launched a campaign calling on its many sellers to remind Congress of the importance of small ecommerce businesses to the economy -- and to make sure they weren't left out of the stimulus package. eBay's communications frequently highlight the importance of the Postal Service as a valuable infrastructure and delivery network for small ecommerce businesses. Unfortunately, USPS was a loser in the current stimulus package -- only granted an increase in borrowing authority of $10 billion, which its customers will be on the hook to repay. Many are pinning hopes on the Postal Service getting funds in a future stimulus package. But it will take a coordinated and forceful industry effort to convince lawmakers that the collapse of the Postal Service threatens the larger $1.3 trillion mailing/shipping industry.
