Earthquake in Philippines

As indicated by the UPU communication below, an earthquake in Castillejos, Zambales is having an impact on postal operations in the Philippines.

The designated operator of the Philippines, Philippine Postal Corporation, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, following the magnitude 6.1 earthquake which occurred in Castillejos, Zambales at 17.11 local time on 22 April 2019:

a. All postal operations are suspended in Metro Manila and Pampanga provinces on Tuesday, 23 April 2019, owing to suspension of government work in those provinces;

b. Based on the initial report of the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, damage sustained in the following areas of Pampanga province may cause delays to postal services: Lubao and Porac.

Philippine Postal Corporation thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding. It will inform them via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.
