Busy Summer for International Mailers and Shippers
International mailers and shippers may view the summer months as a chance to exhale and rejuvenate before the busy peak season arrives. The summer of 2018 is unlikely to allow that reprieve, as key events on the summer calendar pose changes to normal operations. These events include the following:
May 25: EU’s General Data Protection Regulation came into full effect.
July 1: USPS starts compliance checks on commercial outbound products.
July 1: Australian Tax Office assesses the new Goods and Services Tax on low-value goods sold to consumers in Australia.
August 10: President’s Task Force on the U.S. Postal Service set to release its report on reforming the USPS
September 3-7: The Universal Postal Union to hold its Extraordinary Congress in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
